Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. In the 15th minute Conrado Arnas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robustiano Blai saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pascual George during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aldo Urtzi showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Alhuampa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Progresso the free kick. After a rather tough play, Alhuampa's Amado Ferrando got a free kick in the 45th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Conrado Arnas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robustiano Blai read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. In the 58th match minute, Alhuampa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amado Ferrando to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Progresso booed when Alhuampa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lino Matxin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Herminio Franco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Herminio Franco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alhuampa's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
