In the 7th minute of the match Niceto Jobo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Igor Austin skillfully saved the ball. Justino Beti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Igor Austin having to interfere. Jesus Hondo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Drabble's Ricardo Alonso got control of the ball when Jesus Hondo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jesus Hondo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 16thth minute tested the skills of Ricardo Alonso when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 21 minutes into the match, Juan Pereyra dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ricardo Alonso, 1-0. Jesus Hondo might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ricardo Alonso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jesus Hondo ran back to his position shaking his head. Teodosio Frechoso charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Teodosio Frechoso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Petroquímica booed when Drabble was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodosio Frechoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ricardo Alonso acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 33rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Erasmo Pacho. Juan Pereyra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bernardino Duardo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Igor Austin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricardo Alonso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Pereyra, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. In the 45th minute, Teodosio Frechoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Teodosio Frechoso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Juan Pereyra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Celedonio Urdin kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Jesus Hondo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 70 minutes into the match, Drabble's goal looked a bit too open when Juan Pereyra came free, but Ricardo Alonso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 72 minutes, Bernardino Duardo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Drabble's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernardino Duardo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Juan Pereyra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Alonso having to interfere. Jesus Hondo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Teodosio Frechoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Teodosio Frechoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bartolo Dorio might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Igor Austin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bartolo Dorio ran back to his position shaking his head. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Drabble players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
