The audience thought a goal was coming when Baldomero Flores got free with Elvio Guib in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Artemio Berasko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximo Dalmu in the 13th minute of play. The supporters of Newells Old Boys booed when Seguí FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cecilio Tajo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Eustaquio Amato got a free kick in the 35th minute. Cecilio Eutor's late challenge caught a Seguí FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cecilio Eutor helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Cecilio Eutor hit a great ball. Elvio Guib made an important save on a dangerous shot by Baldomero Flores in the 47th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The Newells Old Boys fans cheered their team off the field, for while Seguí FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
