After having played for 34 minutes, Godfredo Maura managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Deportivo Roca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Godfredo Maura was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Constantino Hechter came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Deportivo Roca fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Constantino Hechter couldn't finish the play. In the 42nd minute of the match, Godfredo Maura tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Claudio Monte saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Godfredo Maura recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo Roca's zone, Albino Naelio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilfredo Chabier came out of the goal and Albino Naelio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Constantino Hechter in the 56th minute of play forced Olascoaga's goalkeeper Claudio Monte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Albino Naelio got free with Wilfredo Chabier in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Godfredo Maura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
