To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Angelino Nesto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rolando Eriz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. Rolando Eriz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elpidio Lluis in the 23rd minute of the match. A collision led to newells04 getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Ciriaco Oihan hit a great ball. Angelino Nesto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rolando Eriz having to make a save. Anselmo Colon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 41 minutes into the match, Telaritos's goalkeeper Arturo Telmo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dario Bernal. Elpidio Lluis might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rolando Eriz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elpidio Lluis ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Angelino Nesto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Telaritos's supporters rose to their feet, but Angelino Nesto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rolando Eriz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The newells04 players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Telaritos were winning 0-1.

If Dario Bernal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Anselmo Colon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arturo Telmo was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. In the 64th minute, Anselmo Colon left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The newells04 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. A collision led to Telaritos getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Celso Matteo hit a great ball. 73 minutes into the match, Telaritos's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Constancio came free, but Arturo Telmo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, newells04's Rolando Eriz got control of the ball when Angelino Nesto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dario Bernal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 89 minutes into the match, newells04's Dario Bernal sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arturo Telmo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Angelino Nesto's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Rolando Eriz firmly grabbed it by the left post. 93 minutes into the match, Telaritos's goal looked a bit too open when Anselmo Colon came free, but Arturo Telmo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 95th minute, Victorino Roldanillo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, newells04's Marco Constancio tried to score from far away in the 96th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
