Osvaldo Barto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dalmacio Faro in the 9th minute of the match. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind River Plate's goalkeeper Victorino Lope, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 12 minutes into the match, Independiente's Raimundo Fernandez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Victorino Lope narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Timoteo Isusko recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The River Plate players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Independiente were winning 0-1.

The wind increased when Dalmacio Faro made the kick off in the second half. Dalmacio Faro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Osvaldo Barto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. If Timoteo Isusko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Timoteo Isusko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Raimundo Fernandez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Victorino Lope having to make a save. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Victorino Lope showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
