Guaberto Berasko blasted a shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Leonides Gaskon having to make a save. Federico Medardo took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Leonides Gaskon. Leonides Gaskon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Roberto Gora fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Tulio having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Celedonio Opilano reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Fernando Tulio. The goal made the score 1-1. 35 minutes into the match, River Plate's goalkeeper Fernando Tulio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roberto Gora. If Celedonio Opilano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th minute, Eugenio Osoro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roberto Gora came free with the goalkeeper in the 40th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Fernando Tulio could save by the left post. With a little luck, River Plate's Fernando Tulio got control of the ball when Roberto Gora tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fernando Tulio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celedonio Opilano, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Guaberto Berasko made a kick off. In the 54th minute Roberto Gora shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Tulio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Guaberto Berasko managed to get in a good position for a shot. River Plate's supporters rose to their feet, but Guaberto Berasko was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leonides Gaskon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fernando Tulio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celedonio Opilano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 68 played minutes teutones got a freekick which was hit by Igor Tercero. After some careless play in the River Plate defense, Roberto Gora kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fernando Tulio. The River Plate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernando Tulio should have stopped the shot. 81 minutes into the game, Nicolas Enol was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. River Plate's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave teutones the free kick. In the 81st match minute, River Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolas Enol to maneuver through the defense. 82 minutes into the match, Roberto Gora had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fernando Tulio. River Plate's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Roberto Gora was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. River Plate's Fernando Tulio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celedonio Opilano in the 87th minute of play. Leonides Gaskon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guaberto Berasko in the 89th minute of play. A collision led to teutones getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Gaspar Che hit a great ball. In the 93rd minute Guaberto Berasko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonides Gaskon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. River Plate's Romeo Chico shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 96th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Leonides Gaskon but with some difficulty. Roberto Gora received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Fernando Tulio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
