River Plate's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jorge Gonsalve was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Menucos's Atilano Lano couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 90th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for River Plate. Carlos Restu might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marco Ponciano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Restu ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Menucos fans cheered their team off the field, for while River Plate had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
