After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de La Plata's Alfonso Isidor got a free kick in the 13th minute. After recieving a nice pass, River Plate's Prospero Firman tried to score from far away in the 14th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Paulino Hernandez did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Elias Caradaro 16 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Estudiantes de La Plata defense, Blas Gentza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tadeo Beltza. The Estudiantes de La Plata fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tadeo Beltza should have stopped the shot. Tadeo Beltza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Salvatore, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute, Rigoberto Luix made a precise shot to the right of Tadeo Beltza. Estudiantes de La Plata's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blas Gentza in the 31st minute of play forced Estudiantes de La Plata's goalkeeper Tadeo Beltza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Santiago Iraitz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Elias Caradaro. That made the score 2-2 in the 32 minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 42nd minute of the game. One of Estudiantes de La Plata:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of River Plate:s goal. Prospero Firman walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Laureano Ferrando received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Elias Caradaro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Paulino Hernandez made a kick off. Elias Caradaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laureano Ferrando in the 53rd minute of play. Estudiantes de La Plata's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Laureano Ferrando in the 54th minute. Paulino Hernandez struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Elias Caradaro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Estudiantes de La Plata. Elias Caradaro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulino Hernandez, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Tadeo Beltza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Blas Gentza in the 79th minute of the match. After 79 minutes, Norberto Donostia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Estudiantes de La Plata and the River Plate players grew even worse after the yellow card. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Estudiantes de La Plata had played much better football throughout.
