Jeremias Polo came out of the goal and Teodosio Jerico tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 14 minutes into the game, Raimundo Berriotxoa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carapaligüe's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Charrillos the free kick. In the 17th minute, Raimundo Berriotxoa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Faustino Pello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnoldo Haritzeder in the 19th minute of play. Vinicio Abar struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. In the 36th minute Israel Orlandus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremias Polo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Faustino Pello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnoldo Haritzeder, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. In the 99th minute, Teodosio Jerico ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jeremias Polo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. The Carapaligüe supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Carapaligüe would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
