But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Millrick couldn't finish the play. Gaspar Farias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Uriel Abreu having to interfere. Uriel Abreu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Millrick in the 11th minute of play. The supporters of Nagoya Grampus Eight booed when Miranda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vinicio Avellaneda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haroldo Pacifico didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 15th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Haroldo Pacifico was a little too slow when Constantino Bastian got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 19th minute. The score was now 2-0. If Gaspar Farias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Nagoya Grampus Eight defense, Gaspar Farias kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Uriel Abreu. The Nagoya Grampus Eight fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Uriel Abreu should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Miranda's zone, Basilio Locaio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Haroldo Pacifico came out of the goal and Basilio Locaio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the game, Constantino Bastian recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Haroldo Pacifico. Constantino Bastian showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-1.

The referee ignored Miranda's protests and gave Albino Lluis a yellow card for diving instead. Basilio Locaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Haroldo Pacifico tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Basilio Locaio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nagoya Grampus Eight's supporters rose to their feet, but Basilio Locaio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Haroldo Pacifico breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 86 minutes, Gaspar Farias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Miranda's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gaspar Farias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 88 minutes into the game, Arturo Salvidor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nagoya Grampus Eight's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Miranda the free kick. Arturo Salvidor hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Miranda's Joaquin Llorienzo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 89th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Nagoya Grampus Eight. Uriel Abreu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaspar Farias, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Miranda's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
