An unexpectedly hard shot by Melchor Tiniebra in the 16th minute of play forced Horquilla FC's goalkeeper Ernesto Maldonado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mauricio Otoniel took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 19th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ernesto Maldonado. Horquilla FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. A collision led to Horquilla FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Rene Leoncio hit a great ball. Ernesto Maldonado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Melchor Tiniebra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Horquilla FC's Rene Leoncio got a free kick in the 33rd minute. 38 minutes into the match, Ciénaga's goal looked a bit too open when Luisito Fanuco came free, but Guido Vincente reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Luisito Fanuco's late challenge caught a Ciénaga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luisito Fanuco helped the player get up and apologised. After 61 played minutes Horquilla FC got a freekick which was hit by Luisito Fanuco. In the 62nd match minute, Horquilla FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hector Jenaro to maneuver through the defense. Ernesto Maldonado made an important save on a dangerous shot by Esteve Rodriguez in the 66th minute.
