The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Ciénaga's Marcelo Abalos got a free kick in the 4th minute. Nueva Chicago's Constantino Santiago shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 5th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Guido Vincente but with some difficulty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Esteve Rodriguez in the 7th minute of play forced Nueva Chicago's goalkeeper Cleto Bartoleme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Guido Vincente was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Leonardo Jeraldo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. Jesus Urtsua's late challenge caught a Ciénaga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedro Abarca was extremely unlucky when he, in the 40th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 57th minute Leonardo Jeraldo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guido Vincente saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Ramon Suarez fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ciénaga's protests and gave Ramon Suarez a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Nueva Chicago booed when Ciénaga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramon Suarez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nueva Chicago's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
