The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gogo Cresenciano might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Osvaldo Berbiz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gogo Cresenciano ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, ALEJO FC's Generoso Vergaray got a free kick in the 14th minute. After 18 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for ALEJO FC! Ruperto Oihenarte shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Osvaldo Berbiz came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by AGUANTE ITUZAINGO's Aaron Asteri. But to his dismay, Aaron Asteri quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Aaron Asteri sped through ALEJO FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Osvaldo Berbiz. After 32 minutes of play, AGUANTE ITUZAINGO's Aaron Asteri made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Osvaldo Berbiz was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 35 minutes, Amancio Oliveiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AGUANTE ITUZAINGO and the ALEJO FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to AGUANTE ITUZAINGO getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Amancio Oliveiro hit a great ball. Osvaldo Berbiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aaron Asteri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aaron Asteri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 46th minute, Ivan Gentza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AGUANTE ITUZAINGO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
