The supporters of Academia FC booed when Institucion Sarmiento was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mario Abancens didn't get a good kick on the ball. The wind increased when Aurelio Liher made the kick off in the second half. Aurelio Liher recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 56th minute of the match Leandro Barbosa sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cristian Maule skillfully saved the ball. Gilberto Fiz charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gilberto Fiz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cristian Maule came out of the goal and Aurelio Liher tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cristian Maule made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurelio Liher in the 92nd minute of play. Aurelio Liher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristian Maule having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Academia FC's Cristian Maule threw himself towards the right post 98 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Amador Ebardo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Institucion Sarmiento fans cheered their team off the field, for while Academia FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
