In the 7th minute Clodoveo Fanuco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pastor Acevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The tension between the River plate and the mamabicho players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 8 played minutes River plate got a freekick which was hit by Arturo Barros. After some careless play in the River plate defense, Horacio Grabiel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pastor Acevedo. The River plate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pastor Acevedo should have stopped the shot. 21 minutes into the match, mamabicho's goal looked a bit too open when Juan Mosen came free, but Fernando Jaizki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pastor Acevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabio Seguinus in the 26th minute of play. Pastor Acevedo came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by mamabicho's Ernesto Tadzio. But to his dismay, Ernesto Tadzio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 32nd match minute, mamabicho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernesto Tadzio to maneuver through the defense. Arturo Barros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pastor Acevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabio Seguinus in the 43rd minute of the match. Eusebio Canor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 46th minute, Eusebio Canor made a precise shot to the right of Fernando Jaizki. mamabicho's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eusebio Canor made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eusebio Canor in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fernando Jaizki saved mamabicho from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ernesto Tadzio got free with Pastor Acevedo in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fernando Jaizki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arturo Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After a defensive mix-up in mamabicho's zone, Eusebio Canor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernando Jaizki came out of the goal and Eusebio Canor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fernando Jaizki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eusebio Canor in the 58th minute of play. In the 60th match minute, River plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Barros to maneuver through the defense. In the 61st minute, Fabio Seguinus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ernesto Tadzio got free with Pastor Acevedo in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. River plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Atilano Erruki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Angelo Taurino charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Angelo Taurino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to mamabicho getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Angelo Taurino hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in mamabicho's zone, Juan Mosen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernando Jaizki came out of the goal and Juan Mosen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With an all-out effort, mamabicho's Pastor Acevedo threw himself towards the right post 75 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Fabio Seguinus, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Arturo Barros came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the River plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arturo Barros couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in mamabicho's zone, Arturo Barros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernando Jaizki came out of the goal and Arturo Barros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 89th minute, Arturo Barros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eusebio Canor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Jaizki having to interfere. After 94 played minutes River plate got a freekick which was hit by Arturo Barros. If Eusebio Canor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see River plate lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
