Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jimeno Kepa ran back to his position shaking his head. Jimeno Kepa came free with the goalkeeper in the 5th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Pastor Acevedo could save by the left post. Eusebio Canor struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Desiderio Galtero didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River plate. In the 9th minute, Atilano Erruki got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 12 minutes of play, Acorazado Potemkin's Jimeno Kepa made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pastor Acevedo was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Jimeno Kepa came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Acorazado Potemkin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jimeno Kepa couldn't finish the play. After having played for 19 minutes, Felipe Manilan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Acorazado Potemkin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felipe Manilan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. River plate's Pastor Acevedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save River plate from getting a goal against them. River plate's Pastor Acevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jimeno Kepa in the 28th minute of play. Jimeno Kepa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 31 minutes into the game, Omar Al Asuosi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Acorazado Potemkin's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave River plate the free kick. In the 32nd minute there was a penalty for River plate. Arturo Barros stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Desiderio Galtero. 1-1. Felipe Manilan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pastor Acevedo having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pedro Jurgi during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 40 played minutes River plate got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Jurgi. Acorazado Potemkin's Felipe Manilan got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pastor Acevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jimeno Kepa in the 44th minute. After 45 played minutes, Acorazado Potemkin's Amancio Jaizki shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pastor Acevedo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Acorazado Potemkin reached it. In the 46th minute, Julian Ekhi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eusebio Canor was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Atilano Erruki recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Desiderio Galtero. Atilano Erruki showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. 56 minutes into the match, Acorazado Potemkin's goal looked a bit too open when Arturo Barros came free, but Desiderio Galtero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. River plate's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Arturo Barros in the 57th minute. After taking down the ball on River plate's corner Arturo Barros fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Desiderio Galtero quite easily take care of the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 93rd match minute, River plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Barros to maneuver through the defense. Geronimo Urritz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 96th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pastor Acevedo. River plate's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Felipe Manilan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pastor Acevedo having to interfere. The River plate supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing River plate would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
