Modesto Marcones's late challenge caught a Palmar's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Modesto Marcones helped the player get up and apologised. After 7 played minutes Banfield got a freekick which was hit by Modesto Marcones. Freddy Paz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Siro Frasco in the 13th minute of play. Natalio Velasco was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 16 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute Donato Admon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emiliano Monico saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute, Delmiro Iyan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fabian Modestio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Freddy Paz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Freddy Paz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Siro Frasco, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After having played for 34 minutes, Fabian Modestio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmar's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabian Modestio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Fabian Modestio dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Freddy Paz, 1-1. 42 minutes into the game, Modesto Marcones cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Emiliano Monico was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 46 minutes into the match, Palmar's goal looked a bit too open when Delmiro Iyan came free, but Emiliano Monico reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fabian Modestio kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Delmiro Iyan was the one to do the kick off. Emiliano Monico made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delmiro Iyan in the 53rd minute of play. If Aurelio Leguizamón had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The referee ignored Palmar's protests and gave Primitivo Mancio a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Palmar getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Primitivo Mancio hit a great ball. Gualterio Udalaitz was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 61st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Fabian Modestio kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. In the 64th minute of the match Gualterio Udalaitz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Emiliano Monico skillfully saved the ball. After 69 played minutes Banfield got a freekick which was hit by Gualterio Udalaitz. If Eugenio Donzel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 71 minutes, Emiliano Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Banfield's Freddy Paz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emiliano Garcia in the 77th minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, Palmar's goal looked a bit too open when Delmiro Iyan came free, but Emiliano Monico reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Palmar getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Serafino Maju hit a great ball. Siro Frasco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freddy Paz having to interfere. It was a penalty for Palmar! Emiliano Monico went to the wrong direction when Gualterio Udalaitz was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. After a rather tough play, Banfield's Gualterio Udalaitz got a free kick in the 95th minute. After 97 played minutes Palmar got a freekick which was hit by Aurelio Leguizamón. Chants of Banfield echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Palmar had held the ball for most of the match.
