The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, NEWELLS 74's Anier Remigio got a free kick in the 3rd minute. 5 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Palermo's goalkeeper Gilbert Traczewski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hernan Caitano. A collision led to NEWELLS 74 getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Eulalio Lekubegi hit a great ball. Hugo Maxin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victorio Gentza having to interfere. After 15 minutes, Leonardo Jenaro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Atletico Palermo and the NEWELLS 74 players grew even worse after the yellow card. Leonardo Jenaro kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. NEWELLS 74's Laureano Bizi shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 16th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Gilbert Traczewski but with some difficulty. Victorio Gentza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benjamin Francho, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Hernan Caitano did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Gilbert Traczewski 26 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hernan Caitano in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilbert Traczewski saved Club Atletico Palermo from getting behind. Alfredo Cayo might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gilbert Traczewski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alfredo Cayo ran back to his position shaking his head. Hernan Caitano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilbert Traczewski having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Victor Rocendo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hernan Caitanos short, quick shot in the 44thth minute got Gilbert Traczewski to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hugo Maxin made a kick off. A hard shot by Ruperto Remicio from long distance, 52 minutes into the match, got Victorio Gentza's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Hugo Maxin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 56 played minutes Hugo Maxin rounded NEWELLS 74's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-2. When Victor Rocendo fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Atletico Palermo's protests and gave Victor Rocendo a yellow card for diving instead. After 63 played minutes Club Atletico Palermo got a freekick which was hit by Victor Rocendo. In the 65th minute of the match Eulalio Lekubegi shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gilbert Traczewski showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Hernan Caitano might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gilbert Traczewski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hernan Caitano ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hernan Caitano in the 75th managed to get into a good position. Victorio Gentza was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. If Hugo Maxin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Victorio Gentza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugo Maxin in the 92nd minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Hugo Maxin took a quick shot and it went in 2-4 without a chance for Victorio Gentza to make any attempt to save it. The Club Atletico Palermo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Club Atletico Palermo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
