Humberto Ricart hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Lanús AFC's zone, Leandro Liher stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hermengildo Endira came out of the goal and Leandro Liher tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Alonzo Oihenarte kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Hermengildo Endira. That made the score 1-3 in the 42 minute of play. Leandro Liher recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half Lanús AFC were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alonzo Oihenarte made a kick off. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Lanús AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
