Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Osvaldo Lugo made the kick off and thus started the match. Bernabe Alvarez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Dolfo in the 6th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Felix Dolfo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético River Plate's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Dolfo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bernabe Alvarez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Artemio Normando fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernabe Alvarez having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artemio Normando in the 18th minute of play forced velez sarsfield's goalkeeper Bernabe Alvarez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bernabe Alvarez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artemio Normando in the 20th minute of play. Bernabe Alvarez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Artemio Normando went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Felix Dolfo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in velez sarsfield's zone, Artemio Normando stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernabe Alvarez came out of the goal and Artemio Normando tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 40th minute Genaro Rafel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laureano Gaitano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st minute, Osvaldo Lugo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Felix Dolfo might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bernabe Alvarez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felix Dolfo ran back to his position shaking his head. 45 minutes into the match, velez sarsfield's goalkeeper Bernabe Alvarez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Dolfo. Thanks to some nice moves Felix Dolfo could shoot a difficult shot in the 47th minute, which Bernabe Alvarez however easily saved by the left post. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Artemio Normando to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, velez sarsfield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime Txema to maneuver through the defense. In the 52nd minute Felix Dolfo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernabe Alvarez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by velez sarsfield's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Andres Montez was slow to take the kick. During this time Club Atlético River Plate's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Andres Montez almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but velez sarsfield's Bernabe Alvarez did a great save. Bernabe Alvarez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Artemio Normando in the 57th minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, velez sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when Artemio Normando came free, but Bernabe Alvarez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Felix Dolfo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Bernabe Alvarez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Artemio Normando, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Club Atlético River Plate's Artemio Normando got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Artemio Normando in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bernabe Alvarez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Osvaldo Lugo was extremely unlucky when he, in the 96th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out.
