When Eugenio Sergi fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C. A. Pueyrredón's protests and gave Eugenio Sergi a yellow card for diving instead. 17 minutes into the match, Córdoba's Fernan Ur broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 18 minutes into the game, Arnoldo Ugaitz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. C. A. Pueyrredón's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Córdoba the free kick. After 18 played minutes C. A. Pueyrredón got a freekick which was hit by Arnoldo Ugaitz. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Ramon Cugat managed to get in a good position for a shot. Córdoba's supporters rose to their feet, but Ramon Cugat was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aquiles Paz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aquiles Paz came out of the goal and German Chinto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 25 minutes, Bernabe Lordi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C. A. Pueyrredón and the Córdoba players grew even worse after the yellow card. Bernabe Lordi hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the C. A. Pueyrredón defense, German Chinto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aquiles Paz. The C. A. Pueyrredón fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aquiles Paz should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Córdoba getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Edelmiro Romildo hit a great ball. Marcial Semeno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Córdoba were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ruperto Polentzi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcial Semeno, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. 54 minutes into the match, Isidro Niva notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Córdoba's Ruperto Polentzi. Ruperto Polentzi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
