Fernan Diegotxe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonzalo Quilino in the 36th minute of play. In the 39th minute, Club Atlético River Plate's Mario Salvatore ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Emiliano Cordarrol. Emiliano Cordarrol yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Higinio Ponce managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético River Plate's supporters rose to their feet, but Higinio Ponce was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emiliano Cordarrol breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Cesar Mincho made the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Club Atlético River Plate defense, Gonzalo Quilino kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fernan Diegotxe. The Club Atlético River Plate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernan Diegotxe should have stopped the shot. Mario Salvatore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. The referee gave Club Atlético River Plate a penalty, 65 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Edgard Txindoki, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Mocoretá FC's Emiliano Cordarrol. 2-1. A wasted opportunity for Mocoretá FC. Club Atlético River Plate walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
