Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Oriente FC's Atilano Bartoleme in the 7th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Carmelo Palos was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Estrella de Maldonado through an amazing save. Freddy Tolino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Atilano Bartoleme in the 15th minute of play forced Estrella de Maldonado's goalkeeper Carmelo Palos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Estrella de Maldonado's goal looked a bit too open when Atilano Bartoleme came free, but Carmelo Palos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Freddy Tolino struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Carmelo Palos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Oriente FC. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Atilano Bartoleme was the one to do the kick off.
