After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Clemente Martinez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Salto's supporters rose to their feet, but Clemente Martinez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicolas Darien breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Ladislao Giro made the kick off in the second half. Clemente Martinez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Darien having to interfere. Ladislao Giro hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Clemente Martinez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Clemente Martinez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Darien having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Clemente Martinez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nicolas Darien was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Salto's Clemente Martinez quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Elias Dubardo, made in the 67th minute of the game. Gavilán's Nicolas Darien played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clemente Martinez in the 72nd minute of play. Manuel Gar made in the 85th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Salto's Clemente Martinez. Clemente Martinez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nicolas Darien having to make a save. 90 minutes into the game, one of Gavilán:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 97 minutes had been played when some careless play by Gavilán's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gaston Abadie was slow to take the kick. During this time Salto's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Salto's corner Gaston Abadie fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Nicolas Darien quite easily take care of the ball. The Salto fans' excitement grew in the 97th match minute when Salto's Jimeno Venceslas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Salto fully deserved thier win.
