Spectators: 6657 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1657, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Apolo Frutos took the kick off in the first half of the match. After 4th play minutes Pedro Mikelar shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Antonio Diegotxe and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 7th minute, Teofilo Savier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Apolo Frutos in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Antonio Diegotxe saved Hucal AFC from getting behind. Fernan Gabrio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Oscar Corderall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Antonio Diegotxe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute, Pedro Mikelar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Pedro Mikelar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Saprissa's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro Mikelar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Antonio Diegotxe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Antonio Diegotxe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Apolo Frutos in the 37th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Apolo Frutos in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Antonio Diegotxe prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Teofilo Savier charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Teofilo Savier the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Hucal AFC's Teofilo Savier got a free kick in the 39th minute. Antonio Diegotxe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedro Mikelar's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. If Pedro Mikelar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

Bernardo Ihazintu kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. 55 minutes into the match, Fernan Gabrio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacinto Panfilo. Saprissa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fernan Gabrio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Oscar Corderall charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Oscar Corderall the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Oscar Corderall hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Antonio Diegotxe had great luck who in the 78thth minute grab hold of the ball when Apolo Frutos from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. If Pedro Mikelar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 83 minutes into the match, Hucal AFC's goalkeeper Antonio Diegotxe had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Mikelar. When the match clock showed 88 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Apolo Frutos sped through Hucal AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Antonio Diegotxe. Fernan Gabrio struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Jacinto Panfilo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hucal AFC. Jacinto Panfilo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ildefonso Quintin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Saprissa's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
