The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Cleto Santio came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Zapata fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cleto Santio couldn't finish the play. Atilano Martxelin charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Atilano Martxelin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Zapata booed when La Vieja Confiable was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Atilano Martxelin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emilio Cordearo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Emilio Cordearo was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 20th minute. La Vieja Confiable's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Cleto Santio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Emilio Cordearo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Delmar Baraquiel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cleto Santio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in La Vieja Confiable's zone, Cleto Santio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilfredo Peio came out of the goal and Cleto Santio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Cleto Santio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilfredo Peio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Teo Lauaxeta in the 62nd minute. Teo Lauaxeta succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-1 in the 64th playminute. Ramiro Orzaize fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilfredo Peio having to interfere. In the 71st minute, Cosme Kauldi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 72nd minute Emilio Cordearo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Delmar Baraquiel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Haroldo Ubendu came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the La Vieja Confiable fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Haroldo Ubendu couldn't finish the play. Delmar Baraquiel came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by La Vieja Confiable's Emilio Cordearo. But to his dismay, Emilio Cordearo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Delmar Baraquiel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emilio Cordearo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute there was a penalty for La Vieja Confiable. Pascual Pacorro stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Delmar Baraquiel. 2-1. Haroldo Ubendu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delmar Baraquiel having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cleto Santio in the 98th minute of play forced La Vieja Confiable's goalkeeper Wilfredo Peio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
