The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Clodoveo Lartaun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elvio Misael having to interfere. 9 minutes into the match, Ibarlucea's goal looked a bit too open when Raul Nazario came free, but Elvio Fernanco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 13 minutes into the game, one of Ibarlucea:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. If Clodoveo Lartaun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elvio Misael took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luciano Colas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristo Lluques struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Elvio Fernanco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Margarita. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristo Lluques in the 46th minute of play forced Ibarlucea's goalkeeper Elvio Fernanco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Ibarlucea players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Margarita were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cristo Lluques to make the kick off. Ibarlucea's Luciano Colas got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 56th minute, Clodoveo Lartaun ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elvio Misael was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Elvio Misael showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luciano Colas, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Elvio Misael made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clodoveo Lartaun in the 66th minute of play. Cristo Lluques was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 68th minute. Margarita's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. With a little luck, Ibarlucea's Elvio Fernanco got control of the ball when Cristo Lluques tried to sneak it across the goal line. 79 minutes into the match, Margarita's Raul Nazario sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Elvio Fernanco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 83rd match minute, Ibarlucea was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hermengildo Arnalt to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Margarita booed when Ibarlucea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Godfredo Abeita didn't get a good kick on the ball. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
