Spectators: 7191 (Terracing: 5395, Seating: 1653, VIP seats: 143) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Benedicto Tavio started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Sportivo La Candela's zone, Abelardo Eguen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Everardo Sauveur came out of the goal and Abelardo Eguen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 10th minute Benedicto Tavio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Everardo Sauveur saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Everardo Sauveur made an important save on a dangerous shot by Feliciano Birila in the 12th minute. In the 17thth minute of the game Benedicto Tavio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sportivo La Candela's Everardo Sauveur was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 18th minute, Hugo Baladi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute of the match, Benedicto Tavio tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Everardo Sauveur saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Everardo Sauveur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abelardo Eguen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Everardo Sauveur showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benedicto Tavio in the 25th minute of the match. In the 26th minute of the match Leeds United got a corner. Sportivo La Candela's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Amadeo Gau ran over to the corner to take the kick. Roberto Lucila kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. In the 28th match minute, Leeds United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edelmiro Precioso to maneuver through the defense. Natalio Javiero fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 30th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball bounced in the crossbar and then went out. It was a very nice shot. Nunez Berasko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Galoer having to interfere. 39 minutes into the game, Ceferino Normando was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sportivo La Candela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Leeds United the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sportivo La Candela fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 39th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Leeds United a penalty, 41 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Amadeo Gau, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Sportivo La Candela's Everardo Sauveur. 1-0. Abelardo Eguen struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Everardo Sauveur didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leeds United. Nunez Berasko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Galoer having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Feliciano Birila managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leeds United's supporters rose to their feet, but Feliciano Birila was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Everardo Sauveur breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sportivo La Candela's Everardo Sauveur played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedicto Tavio in the 55th minute of play. If Nunez Berasko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcelo Galoer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernabe Bonadona in the 59th minute of the match. Feliciano Birila sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benedicto Tavio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Bernabe Bonadona came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Sportivo La Candela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernabe Bonadona couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Sportivo La Candela getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Carlos Miro hit a great ball. Leeds United's Benedicto Tavio got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Sportivo La Candela's Carlos Miro got a free kick in the 75th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernabe Bonadona in the 77th minute of play forced Leeds United's goalkeeper Marcelo Galoer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Feliciano Birila's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Everardo Sauveur read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Sportivo La Candela's Bernabe Bonadona got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nunez Berasko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 92 played minutes Sportivo La Candela got a freekick which was hit by Mario Pancho. In the 95th minute, Feliciano Birila made a precise shot to the right of Everardo Sauveur. Sportivo La Candela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0.
