James Rodriguez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leopoldo Calvino, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Leopoldo Calvino took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised James Rodriguez. James Rodriguez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 12 minutes into the game, Tiburcio Laffitte was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Asturias's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Franco Canadiense the free kick. In the 12th match minute, Asturias was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiburcio Laffitte to maneuver through the defense. Elpidio Waske sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. James Rodriguez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopoldo Calvino in the 18th minute of play. After 20 played minutes Franco Canadiense got a freekick which was hit by Christian Eusko. After recieving a nice pass, Asturias's Edgardo Ioritz tried to score from far away in the 21st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. James Rodriguez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leopoldo Calvino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32nd minute Elpidio Waske shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but James Rodriguez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Lisandro Chano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leopoldo Calvino in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg James Rodriguez saved Franco Canadiense from getting behind. In the 42nd minute Elpidio Waske shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but James Rodriguez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 47 minutes into the match, Franco Canadiense's goal looked a bit too open when Leopoldo Calvino came free, but James Rodriguez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The wind increased when Leopoldo Calvino made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rdth minute of the game Leopoldo Calvino who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Franco Canadiense's James Rodriguez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Christian Eusko kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Franco Canadiense's zone, Leopoldo Calvino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. James Rodriguez came out of the goal and Leopoldo Calvino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. James Rodriguez was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Elpidio Waske showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 69 minute of play. The Asturias fans' excitement grew in the 77th match minute when Asturias's Elpidio Waske looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Elpidio Waske could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but James Rodriguez made a huge save. When Domingo Silvanito fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Franco Canadiense's protests and gave Domingo Silvanito a yellow card for diving instead. The goalkeeper, James Rodriguez, was totally fooled by Asturias's Edgardo Ioritz, who 90 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. An unexpected shot in the 97th minute by Elpidio Waske got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When the match was over Asturias could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Franco Canadiense throughout the match.
