To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Pedro Eguerdi came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Bluestones fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Eguerdi couldn't finish the play. Donato Rojelio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Eguerdi, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Donato Rojelio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Moises Hanni in the 18th minute of the match. Pedro Eguerdi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donato Rojelio having to interfere. Newpi's Javier Isadore got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Newpi's Donato Rojelio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Moises Hanni in the 33rd minute of play. Epifanio Belmiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 47th minute Pedro Eguerdi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donato Rojelio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pedro Eguerdi to make the kick off.
