Horquilla's Denis Cordero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celso Ekialde in the 44th minute of play. 45 minutes into the game, Danilo Salomone was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Maco's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Horquilla the free kick. In the 45th minute, Danilo Salomone hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 47 played minutes, Horquilla's Cristian Fagondo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rolando Cesaro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Horquilla reached it. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 79 minutes, Hector Perico mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maco and the Horquilla players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 82 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Maco! Rolando Cesaro went to the wrong direction when Cristian Fagondo was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Rolando Cesaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gervasio Benat in the 86th minute of play. 0-1 became the score in the 91st minute when Marcial Cucao elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The Horquilla players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
