Roque Jakobe, 35 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Jose Guillelmus the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of River Plate protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jose Guillelmus had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 42 minutes into the game, one of River Plate:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Nestor Mark's late challenge caught a Lusampa FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nestor Mark helped the player get up and apologised. After 48 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Mark. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cirilo Asur was the one to do the kick off. After 56 minutes, Esteve Tebaldo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lusampa FC and the River Plate players grew even worse after the yellow card.
