The crowd rose to their feet as Dinamo Ereván's Rene Pacorro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Freddy Cordarin. That made the score 1-0 after 11 minutes of play. In the 23rd minute Jonathan Ado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isidoro Leizarraga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dinamo Ereván's Isidoro Leizarraga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Ado in the 24th minute of play. Rene Pacorro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freddy Cordarin having to interfere. Mauro Luken's late challenge caught a River Plate.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mauro Luken helped the player get up and apologised. In the 34th match minute, River Plate. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horacio Odilon to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ado's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Isidoro Leizarraga read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jonathan Ado stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Dinamo Ereván booed when River Plate. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horacio Odilon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rene Pacorro took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Freddy Cordarin. Freddy Cordarin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. 61 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Dinamo Ereván's Rene Pacorro fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Rene Pacorro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Freddy Cordarin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Freddy Cordarin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabio Efren in the 69th minute of the match. Isidoro Leizarraga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Ado in the 74th minute of play.
