The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the game, Florencio Thomas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ayapaso's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deportivo El Cid the free kick. The supporters of Deportivo El Cid booed when Ayapaso was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florencio Thomas didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Martin Onofre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ariel Serapio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Onofre in the 6th minute of the match. Ariel Serapio came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by Deportivo El Cid's Isidoro Taurino. But to his dismay, Isidoro Taurino quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After some careless play in the Ayapaso defense, Martin Onofre kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ariel Serapio. The Ayapaso fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ariel Serapio should have stopped the shot. Fausto Natanael took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rosendo Dorio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nereo Niva got free with Fausto Natanael in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Deportivo El Cid's Fausto Natanael got control of the ball when Nereo Niva tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Rosendo Dorio fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ayapaso's protests and gave Rosendo Dorio a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ayapaso getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Rosendo Dorio hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Ayapaso's Florencio Thomas got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Ariel Serapio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Onofre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fausto Natanael showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rosendo Dorio, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. After some careless play in the Ayapaso defense, Martin Onofre kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ariel Serapio. The Ayapaso fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ariel Serapio should have stopped the shot. Isidoro Taurino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Deportivo El Cid's defense didn't have a chance, in the 47th minute, when Eustaquio Carlomagno scored to the left of an out of position Fausto Natanael, making the score, 1-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rosendo Dorio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Martin Onofre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Isidoro Taurino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Ariel Serapio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute, Isidoro Taurino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Anselmo Dubardo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ayapaso's supporters rose to their feet, but Anselmo Dubardo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fausto Natanael breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Florencio Thomas kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Nereo Niva might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fausto Natanael. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nereo Niva ran back to his position shaking his head. Martin Onofre struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Ariel Serapio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deportivo El Cid. Ayapaso's Florencio Thomas got his second yellow card of the match in the 80th minute. The referee ordered Florencio Thomas off the ground. In the 81st minute, Florencio Thomas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nereo Niva in the 83rd minute of play forced Deportivo El Cid's goalkeeper Fausto Natanael to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Claudio Jacindo's late challenge caught a Ayapaso's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudio Jacindo helped the player get up and apologised. Claudio Jacindo hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Deportivo El Cid's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
