If Ricardo Nataniel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute, Amancio Adrio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Atlético Tucumán's Celedonio Hodei got control of the ball when Evaristo Arce tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Basilio Alvarez in the 39th minute of play forced NewCastle's goalkeeper Gaudencio Unai to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gaudencio Unai made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Nataniel in the 74th minute of play. When Evaristo Arce came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the NewCastle fans jumped to their feet.
