The Alejandro Joanes was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Leon's Florentino Enekoitz got a free kick in the 29th minute. A collision led to Leon getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Santiago Checa hit a great ball. 31 minutes into the match, TORCUATO FC's Anacleto Ponc broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Alejandro Joanes made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Fernando Perez sent off a good shot on target. Leon's Fernando Perez got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alejandro Joanes acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 43rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Erubiel Restu. Alejandro Joanes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rene Felo in the 47th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 51st minute, Fernando Perez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Leon fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Remigio Javiar who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Felix Fernandez when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Leon's zone, Evelio Nikola stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Felix Fernandez came out of the goal and Evelio Nikola tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 85th minute, Evelio Nikola fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Felix Fernandez, passed just outside the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evelio Nikola in the 87th minute of play forced Leon's goalkeeper Felix Fernandez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rene Felo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Alejandro Joanes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alejandro Joanes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernando Perez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
