After a defensive mix-up in Bella Vista's zone, Herminio Lain stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guaberto Osorio came out of the goal and Herminio Lain tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Herminio Lain struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Guaberto Osorio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for NOB. The audience thought a goal was coming when Humberto Harri got free with Per-Olof Wästerberg in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Per-Olof Wästerberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Humberto Harri in the 15th minute of play. Guaberto Osorio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silvestre Ebardo in the 16th minute of the match. When Silvestre Ebardo came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the NOB fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silvestre Ebardo couldn't finish the play. Herminio Lain sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Humberto Harri managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bella Vista's supporters rose to their feet, but Humberto Harri was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Per-Olof Wästerberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Silvestre Ebardo made the kick off in the second half. Nicolas Aguilera kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Guaberto Osorio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvestre Ebardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. The supporters of NOB booed when Bella Vista was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodoro Tancredo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Silvestre Ebardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guaberto Osorio having to interfere. Silvestre Ebardo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guaberto Osorio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play.
