With an extended leg and a bit of luck Victorio Polo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 32 minutes, Nestor Frederik mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the La Banda FC and the Haile Selassie players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 37th minute, Zacarias Maties made a precise shot to the right of Victorio Polo. La Banda FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Victorio Polo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugenio Dominic in the 45th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience was convinced that Arnoldo Cidro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Victorio Polo was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. Haile Selassie's Zacarias Maties got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Arnoldo Cidro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. La Banda FC's Victorio Polo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Irinel Jienescu in the 94th minute of play. Dante Oinatz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victoriano Heriberto, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute.
