If Abel Iraunkor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the FC Leverkusen defense, Jairo Maxin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Angelino Azubeli. The FC Leverkusen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Angelino Azubeli should have stopped the shot. 17 minutes into the match, Jairo Maxin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Angelino Azubeli. FC Leverkusen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jairo Maxin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 25th match minute, FC Leverkusen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vicente Francesco to maneuver through the defense. FC Leverkusen's Angelino Azubeli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Maxin in the 27th minute of play. Angelino Azubeli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abel Iraunkor in the 34th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Abel Iraunkor managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Chavo's supporters rose to their feet, but Abel Iraunkor was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Angelino Azubeli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 43 minutes into the match, El Chavo's goal looked a bit too open when Victoriano Amato came free, but Lisandro Stanislao reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of FC Leverkusen booed when El Chavo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Marin didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Teodoro Tonio was the one to do the kick off. Cristian Marin kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. FC Leverkusen's Nestor Marques couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 56th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for El Chavo. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Leverkusen's goalkeeper Angelino Azubeli, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, FC Leverkusen's Angelino Azubeli got control of the ball when Abel Iraunkor tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Jairo Maxin fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After 77 played minutes FC Leverkusen got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Marques. In the 77th minute, Nestor Marques fired away an extremely well hit free kick, but unfortunately the ball went just outside to the right hand side of Lisandro Stanislao. Teodoro Tonio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Lisandro Stanislao tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, FC Leverkusen's Albano Menendo got a free kick in the 87th minute. Teodoro Tonio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. El Chavo's Lisandro Stanislao played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victoriano Amato in the 93rd minute of play. FC Leverkusen were furious when Nestor Marques was red carded, 95 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched El Chavo eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
