One of Lagunillas:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Caminito Juniors:s goal. 8 minutes into the match, Zeledon Iturri had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nicolas Oihenarte. Lagunillas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zeledon Iturri was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Thanks to some nice moves Ciro Terciero could shoot a difficult shot in the 11th minute, which Nicolas Oihenarte however easily saved by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Caminito Juniors's zone, Luisito Vachon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Innocenzio came out of the goal and Luisito Vachon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Daniel Tabby fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lagunillas's protests and gave Daniel Tabby a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Caminito Juniors booed when Lagunillas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Tabby didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ciro Terciero who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 17thth minute tested the skills of Nicolas Oihenarte when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Caminito Juniors's Rolando Innocenzio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisito Vachon in the 19th minute of play. Daniel Tabby's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rolando Innocenzio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Ciro Terciero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Nicolas Oihenarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 35 minutes, Donato Hernandez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caminito Juniors and the Lagunillas players grew even worse after the yellow card. Donato Hernandez kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Adrian Gregory fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rolando Innocenzio having to interfere. In the 44th minute Luisito Vachon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Innocenzio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Caminito Juniors's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Zeledon Iturri in the 48th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
