Monserrat FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Faustino Hermon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 22 played minutes Mariño AFC got a freekick which was hit by Leopoldo Corderall. After 23 minutes, Faustino Hermon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Monserrat FC and the Mariño AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Monserrat FC's Faustino Hermon got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Dionisio Ekhi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filomeno Isias, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Ruperto Felipillo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gualterio Lamberto's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. After some careless play in the Mariño AFC defense, Gualterio Lamberto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ruperto Felipillo. The Mariño AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ruperto Felipillo should have stopped the shot. Inocencio Bernaldo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Dionisio Ekhi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Monserrat FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 47th minute, when Filomeno Isias scored to the left of an out of position Dionisio Ekhi, making the score, 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gualterio Lamberto to make the kick off. Ruperto Felipillo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Benicio Abastas's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Faustino Hermon struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Ruperto Felipillo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Monserrat FC. Monserrat FC's Faustino Hermon suffered a concussion after 61 minutes and had to leave the field. Amador Behe charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Amador Behe the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 62nd minute, Amador Behe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Monserrat FC's Dionisio Ekhi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leopoldo Corderall in the 71st minute of play. If Inocencio Bernaldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 77 minutes of play Mariño AFC's Leopoldo Corderall was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 78th minute, Leopoldo Corderall hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Mariño AFC's zone, Gualterio Lamberto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruperto Felipillo came out of the goal and Gualterio Lamberto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Gualterio Lamberto came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Monserrat FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gualterio Lamberto couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Monserrat FC booed when Mariño AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvio Atarratze didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gualterio Lamberto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Ruperto Felipillo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 95 minutes into the match, Monserrat FC's goal looked a bit too open when Inocencio Bernaldo came free, but Dionisio Ekhi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Monserrat FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
