The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Amado Veto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. Clodoveo Cordareo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Defensores de Belgrano's zone, Modesto Orti stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clodoveo Cordareo came out of the goal and Modesto Orti tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 12 minutes, Modesto Orti managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ezpeleta FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Modesto Orti was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Ezpeleta FC's Adan Virila got a free kick in the 17th minute. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Defensores de Belgrano's Amado Veto in the 21st minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Jonas Chaime was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Ezpeleta FC through an amazing save. Donato Sanchez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Donato Sanchez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 26th minute, Ricardo Ihazintu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 31 minutes into the match, Defensores de Belgrano's goal looked a bit too open when Modesto Orti came free, but Clodoveo Cordareo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Ricardo Ihazintu came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Ezpeleta FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Ihazintu couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Defensores de Belgrano's zone, Modesto Orti stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clodoveo Cordareo came out of the goal and Modesto Orti tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Defensores de Belgrano's goalkeeper Clodoveo Cordareo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Clodoveo Cordareo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amado Tibalt, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Jonas Chaime took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amado Veto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ricardo Ihazintu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donato Sanchez in the 53rd minute of play forced Ezpeleta FC's goalkeeper Jonas Chaime to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Defensores de Belgrano's Clodoveo Cordareo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Defensores de Belgrano from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Modesto Orti got free with Clodoveo Cordareo in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jeremias Martxelin charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeremias Martxelin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 67th minute, Jeremias Martxelin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonas Chaime showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donato Sanchez in the 72nd minute of the match. Jonas Chaime didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Donato Sanchez went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Ricardo Ihazintu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ezpeleta FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ricardo Ihazintu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clodoveo Cordareo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A hard shot 84 in the game by Modesto Orti from a close distance when the talented Clodoveo Cordareo managed to make a qualified save. Defensores de Belgrano's players were relieved. After 86 played minutes Ezpeleta FC got a freekick which was hit by Amado Tibalt. The audience thought a goal was coming when Modesto Orti got free with Clodoveo Cordareo in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ricardo Ihazintu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Clodoveo Cordareo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Defensores de Belgrano fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ezpeleta FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
