In the 47th minute, Lázaro Gartzea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 56thth minute of the game Benigno Polo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AMÉRICA SUR's Gogo Prejun was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Benigno Polo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gogo Prejun came out and tried to block the shot, but Benigno Polo slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 58th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente's zone, Lázaro Gartzea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Herminio Admon came out of the goal and Lázaro Gartzea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 69 played minutes AMÉRICA SUR got a freekick which was hit by Saverio Resto. In the 70th minute, Benigno Polo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gogo Prejun was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Herminio Admon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lázaro Gartzea, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Benigno Polo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gogo Prejun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benigno Polo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Benigno Polo put it in 0-6 from a short distance just to the right of Gogo Prejun. The audience thought a goal was coming when Benigno Polo got free with Gogo Prejun in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Benigno Polo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gogo Prejun having to make a save. When the match was over Independiente could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than AMÉRICA SUR throughout the match.
