The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Cholila's zone, Miguel Eli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugenio Abeita came out of the goal and Miguel Eli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 23 played minutes Ranquilcó got a freekick which was hit by Placido Sabino. Miguel Eli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Eliseo Velasco charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eliseo Velasco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 35 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ranquilcó! Ranquilcó's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Herminio Cutberto in the 43rd minute. After taking down the ball on Ranquilcó's corner Herminio Cutberto fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Eugenio Abeita quite easily take care of the ball.

In the 53rd minute Miguel Eli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugenio Abeita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zdravko Periček received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Eugenio Abeita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th match minute, Ranquilcó was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Placido Sabino to maneuver through the defense. Prospero Garaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kenneth Tingelholm having to interfere. In the 71st minute of the match Herminio Cutberto shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eugenio Abeita showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Zdravko Periček managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ranquilcó's supporters rose to their feet, but Zdravko Periček was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eugenio Abeita breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cholila's Eugenio Abeita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Eli in the 82nd minute of play. Eugenio Abeita stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zdravko Periček's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. Ranquilcó's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Prospero Garaona 86 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-2. Eugenio Abeita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zdravko Periček in the 91st minute of play. Kenneth Tingelholm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Prospero Garaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. If Victorio Azibar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
