But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabio Rivero couldn't finish the play. 9 minutes into the match, Alberdi Jrs.'s goalkeeper Evaristo Gustau had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eusebio Playo. The supporters of C A Independiente booed when Alberdi Jrs. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicanor Henry didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Alberdi Jrs.'s goal looked a bit too open when Jonatan Tadzio came free, but Evaristo Gustau reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. C A Independiente's Venancio Roldan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicanor Henry in the 19th minute of play. Eusebio Playo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Evaristo Gustau firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 26th minute, Fabio Rivero ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Venancio Roldan was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. The referee felt a red card was in order, 30 minutes into the game, when Victor Cresenciano put in a rough tackle. 29 minutes into the game, one of C A Independiente:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Alberdi Jrs. a penalty, 31 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Apolo Jaume, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of C A Independiente's Venancio Roldan. 1-2. After some careless play in the C A Independiente defense, Nicanor Henry kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Venancio Roldan. The C A Independiente fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Venancio Roldan should have stopped the shot. Venancio Roldan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fabio Rivero went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Fabio Rivero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Conrado Patxi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fabio Rivero's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Venancio Roldan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. In the 48th minute, Reynaldo Lop ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Venancio Roldan was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. The C A Independiente players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Alberdi Jrs. were winning 1-5.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fabio Rivero was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, C A Independiente's Venancio Roldan got control of the ball when Reynaldo Lop tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fabio Rivero in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Venancio Roldan saved C A Independiente from getting behind. After 61 played minutes Alberdi Jrs. got a freekick which was hit by Nicanor Henry. If Fabio Rivero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eusebio Playo hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. With a little luck, C A Independiente's Venancio Roldan got control of the ball when Fabio Rivero tried to sneak it across the goal line. Venancio Roldan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fabio Rivero's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. An unexpected shot in the 88th minute by Nicanor Henry got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 91 minutes into the match, Alberdi Jrs.'s goal looked a bit too open when Gualterio Abeijon came free, but Evaristo Gustau reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 92 minutes of play, Alberdi Jrs.'s Fabio Rivero made it 1-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Venancio Roldan was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 96th minute, Nicanor Henry hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 98th minute Reynaldo Lop shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Venancio Roldan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the final whistle sounded Alberdi Jrs. left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than C A Independiente.
