In the 14thth minute of the game Guaberto Jakue who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gilbert's Moises Phelipe was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Teofilo Mendiko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Guaberto Jakue took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Moises Phelipe. Moises Phelipe dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Higinio Quentin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gilbert's supporters rose to their feet, but Higinio Quentin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aristides Henry breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Higinio Tabby made a kick off. Teofilo Mendiko might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Moises Phelipe. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. After a rather tough play, Dorrego's Armando Iraunkor got a free kick in the 96th minute. When Higinio Quentin came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Gilbert fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Higinio Quentin couldn't finish the play. When the final whistle sounded Dorrego left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Gilbert.
