With splendid footwork Ermegildo Gorri arrived in front of goal to shoot 1-0 by the left pole in the game's 9th minute. Baldomero Manilan's late challenge caught a EL leoncito's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Baldomero Manilan helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Independiente getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Baldomero Manilan hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anier Urre in the 17th minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Fernan Jaunti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fernan Jaunti showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Remigio Turi in the 20th minute of the match. A collision led to Independiente getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Baldomero Manilan hit a great ball. Alberto Lizbeth was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 24 minutes into the match. 24 minutes into the game, one of Independiente:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 30 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Remigio Turi came free, but Fernan Jaunti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Ramiro Raymon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 35 minutes into the match, EL leoncito's goalkeeper Severino Leguizamón had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ramiro Raymon. Eusebio Palos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Severino Leguizamón having to make a save. Ramiro Raymon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Severino Leguizamón made a huge save. Fernan Jaunti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Remigio Turi, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. The Independiente players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. EL leoncito were winning 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anier Urre to make the kick off. With a little luck, Independiente's Fernan Jaunti got control of the ball when Remigio Turi tried to sneak it across the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, Independiente's goalkeeper Fernan Jaunti had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Remigio Turi. After 59 minutes, Ramiro Raymon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Independiente and the EL leoncito players grew even worse after the yellow card. The long shot by Tobias Ignatius in the 71st minute really tested Fernan Jaunti's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Severino Leguizamón came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Independiente's Nicasio Ugaitz. But to his dismay, Nicasio Ugaitz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. When Ramiro Raymon came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Independiente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ramiro Raymon couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Independiente lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
