Alonzo Hotz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Prudencio Pueblo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nikolaos Karagounis was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 17th minute. Alonzo Hotz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Prudencio Pueblo in the 26th minute of play. After having played for 29 minutes, Baldomiro Naelio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Baldomiro Naelio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Prudencio Pueblo took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alonzo Hotz. Alonzo Hotz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 38th minute, Osvaldo Potente got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, La inerte barra de carbón's goal looked a bit too open when Prudencio Pueblo came free, but Alonzo Hotz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Baldomiro Naelio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alonzo Hotz having to interfere. A collision led to La inerte barra de carbón getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Dida Prestes hit a great ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Osvaldo Potente stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Osvaldo Potente came free, but Reynaldo Elequemedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 59th minute, Nikolaos Karagounis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Alonzo Hotz managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when Independiente's Prudencio Pueblo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Alonzo Hotz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baldomiro Naelio in the 68th minute of play. Gerardo Primeiro made in the 70th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Silvio Gregory. The audience was convinced that Baldomiro Naelio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alonzo Hotz was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baldomiro Naelio in the 93rd minute of play forced La inerte barra de carbón's goalkeeper Alonzo Hotz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute Baldomiro Naelio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alonzo Hotz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
