Nereo Perez was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Silvio Gregory. The supporters of Independiente booed when Unión was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basilio Aureo didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Nereo Perez managed to avoid a goal in the 24thth minute, when Independiente's Prudencio Pueblo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Baldomiro Naelio in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nereo Perez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Prudencio Pueblo got free with Nereo Perez in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Unión's Nereo Perez got control of the ball when Nemesio Gaitan tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Erasmo Montez kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nereo Perez. That made the score 3-0 in the 38 minute of play. Baldomiro Naelio succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 4-0 in the 42nd playminute.

Reynaldo Elequemedo was out of position in the 51 minute of play, and Abelardo Burni capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Abelardo Burni really showed his touch with that goal: 4-1. Anibal Ponce was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 59 minutes into the match. After 63 minutes, Romulo Lluc mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Unión and the Independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Unión's Romulo Lluc got a free kick in the 64th minute. After 68 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo Montez. Unión's Basilio Aureo got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Independiente's Reynaldo Elequemedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Independiente from getting a goal against them. 73 minutes into the match, Romulo Lluc dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Reynaldo Elequemedo, 4-3. Prudencio Pueblo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nereo Perez having to interfere. Nereo Perez came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by Independiente's Martin Iaki. But to his dismay, Martin Iaki quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-3. Fidel Peruxu's late challenge caught a Independiente's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fidel Peruxu helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Unión's Fidel Peruxu got a free kick in the 83rd minute. When Unión's Saturnino Jatsu in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
